Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep)

One of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands' top ecotourism destinations is Neil Island, which is now formally named as Shaheed Dweep. Renowned for its beautiful green scenery, this island is studded with towering trees, huge paddy fields, banana plantations, and vivid tropical flora. Neil Island, which is well-known for its tranquil beauty, is home to some of the Andamans' most alluring beaches, such as Sitapur Beach, Bharatpur Beach, and Laxmanpur Beach.

Neil Island, a member of the Ritchie's Archipelago and a component of the South Andaman administrative district, is situated in the Bay of Bengal in India. It is situated between Rose Island and the bigger Havelock Island, only 36 km northeast of Port Blair. Because of its rather level surface, the island is ideal for agriculture, especially paddy production. As a result, a large portion of Neil Island's original forest cover has been removed, with the northwest reserve housing the majority of the remaining forest areas.

Regular government boats and private cruise lines like Makruzz, Coastal Cruise, and Express Bhagya connect Neil Island to Port Blair and Havelock Island, making travel there easy. Private cruises are quicker, taking about 90 minutes from Port Blair and about 60 minutes from Havelock Island, although ferries offer more reasonably priced options. Travelers are recommended to verify local timetables ahead of time as ferry timings and schedules fluctuate depending on the season and weather.

Neil Island is a serene haven where guests may take in the unadulterated splendor of the Andaman Islands thanks to its eco-friendly appeal and serene, pastoral charm.
